It's easy to get stuck in a way of doing things, especially if doing them that way is the way you've been doing them for a while. Often, people don't even really think about it. It's worthwhile sometimes to examine yourself and your business practices, not just when things are going wrong, but to find ways to do things better. Even for something so simple and basic as switching to LED high bay lighting.

Changing the way you do things can be hard. In this case, you may have some initial cost output. Removing old hardware and installing new is not an insubstantial cost. So what are some of the benefits of moving to LED?

1. Energy savings

Most households have moved towards LED lighting. You probably won't see much of a variation in your residential energy costs. Home lighting isn't that powerful in the first place, so while that savings can add up over time, it's still relatively minimal. In a commercial setting, you need much more powerful lights. In many cases it's a safety issue, right? The floor of your enterprise needs to be well-lit for worker and/or customer safety. Also, you're often dealing with a much larger space. You just need more powerful lights, and that means consuming more energy than you would at home. This also means the savings of switching to LED can be more significant in a commercial space than in a home space.

2. Longevity

There's also the longevity factor, which is worth considering in high bay lighting. LED lights are more longer-lasting than most other types of lighting, even other types of energy-efficient lighting. You can expect LED lights of all variety to last a decade, some are warrantied for 10 years. That's amazing longevity, in comparison.

3. Less bulb replacing

Now you almost assuredly know that fluorescent bulbs have to be discarded carefully, as they contain hazardous elements, which LED doesn't have. But also consider the other safety feature, specific to LED high bay lighting—the longevity means you don't have to navigate the risk that comes with replacing those lights nearly as often. Replacing lights that high off the ground is a safety risk. And even with proper safety equipment and excellent safety procedures being used correctly, there's still a risk. The risk is greatly minimized, but still there. By switching to LED, that risk is further minimized because you simply won't have to have them replaced that often.
